Ukraine

It seems that Ukraine is not one of the most common destinations to spend a few days of vacation. But after not even thinking about it twice, I decided to spend Easter in Kiev with 4 friends.

The first thing that came to my mind when I thought of Kiev were the riots in the winter of 2014 in the emblematic Maidan Square. The protest was called Euromaidan and it left near 130 deaths; most of them were civilian protesters and 18 police officers were also killed during the clashes.

It is a cheap destination although as it usually happens, the activities for tourists are not so much. The next day to arrive, we went to a shooting range to shoot some weapons such as AK-47, Glock, M16… We had a great time. After the shooting, we were taken to a typical Ukrainian lunch.

The next day, we did the most desired excursion, Chernobyl. At 7 am we headed to Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, we passed by the Chernobyl Nucelar Power Plant and then we went to the ghost town of Pripyat, ending our tour in the impressive Soviet Duga radar.

After visiting a couple of military museums, I couldn’t miss the visit to The Motherland Monument, wich is a part of the Museum of The History of Ukraine in World War II. It is a stainless steel statue of 102m height and 560 tons weight, which makes it one of the largest monuments in the world. It symbolizes the feat accomplished by people during the war.

I could not miss the places to film some videos with the drone, although they did not let me fly in the Exclusion Zone.

And here’s a video summary with some shots of the GoPro.
