Costa Quebrada MTB
The northern coast of Spain is characterized by green forests, wild beaches and large cliffs. A perfect example of this is the “Costa Quebrada” Geological Park, a stretch of coastline that goes from the Magdalena Peninsula in Santander to Cuchía Beach in Miengo.
Ideal scenery to venture on an mtb route, although there are certain sections where it is not possible to ride through, the experience and the views along the route make it worthwhile.
To extend the route a bit and increase the elevation gain, we also climbed Monte Tolio and Monte la Picota, from where you can enjoy a nice 360 degree panoramic view.
The route was 43km with about 800m of positive elevation gain. It is not a very physically demanding route, although it is quite technical.
Cycling along the rough Cantabrian Sea and the cliffs is amazing! Looking forward to trying new seaside trails in the north.
Almost at the end of the route and to replenish energy, we had a typical squid sandwich at the “El Faro Café Bar” next to the Faro Cabo Mayor in Santander.
And here an on board video of the route!
